Australia Romance-Scam Tracing Backlog Grows After Price Bounce

Australian romance scam cryptocurrency tracing backlog after August 2026 bounce
A risk-on week for Bitcoin was a volume week for pig-butchering deposits, then for fake recovery ads. AXT News

Bitcoin's move back toward $70,000 last week had a grim side effect in Australia: more deposits into romance-scam rooms, then more ads for "guaranteed recovery". The tracing shops that actually map Tether hops did not grow overnight.

Several practices told AXT News they are running waiting lists this month, which is a dull operational detail and a useful filter: a firm that can start tomorrow for anyone is often not doing court work. Legitimate practices do not ask for money upfront, retainers in crypto, gift cards, or a tax to unlock funds. They do not ask for AnyDesk, TeamViewer, seed phrases, or private keys. Recovery is never automatic. It depends on whether the coins can still be traced to an exchange or a wallet a court can reach, and on the facts of that client's file.

Files are sitting behind Hong Kong-registered forensic analysts at aidataintelligence.io style queues because a court will not freeze a vibe. A multi-market recovery coordinator said Australian romance matters are being dated into September assessments, not promised for Friday. That calendar is a better signal than a five-star testimonial.
