Spot gold held near $4,070 into Sunday, 8 November, after a jobs-driven pullback from Thursday's weekly high. Kitco showed a gold bid of $4,070.10 and an ask of $4,072.10 in its weekend board, down $17.10, or 0.42%, with a quoted range of $4,029.50 to $4,107.90. Silver was $51.82. A separate Sunday feed had gold near $4,069. Friday morning's dip toward $4,063 is in the last commodities note.

Bullion gives back Thursday's high

The week was a round trip. Kitco's Friday coverage, as carried in weekend roundups, said gold opened the week near $3,875 and reached $4,147.02 on Thursday before a technology selloff and the October payrolls print pulled it back. The low on that account was near $4,030 on Friday, with the week ending just shy of $4,070. Report.az listed gold at $4,074.90 for 7 November, down $38.60 on the day in that table.

The jobs report is the cleanest explanation for the late-week fade. Employers added 165,000 jobs in October and unemployment fell to 4.1%, which lifted the market's odds of a December rate hike toward 77%, in the economy briefing. Higher policy rates raise the carry cost of a metal that pays no yield. Gold is still far above the year's lows, but Thursday's push through $4,140 did not hold once the labor data landed.

Brent holds near $98 after a steep week

Oil told a different story. Report.az and a Sunday price table both put Brent at $98.32 a barrel and WTI at $90.83. Henry Hub natural gas was about $3.00. The Company Chronicle, citing OilPrice.com and Friday closes, said ICE Brent fell about 15% on the week to roughly $99, one of the steepest weekly losses in recent memory, on hopes of a US-Iran deal. Its Friday box had Brent little changed at $98.32 and WTI up 0.3% at $90.83. The same note said limited US strikes on Iran came after the cash close, so Monday's open is the first test of whether that weekly drop survives.

Platinum on the Kitco board was $1,534 and palladium $1,004. For crypto desks, the mix is straightforward: a firmer rate path is a headwind for bitcoin near $75,700, while cheaper crude takes one inflation input off the table before Tuesday's CPI print. Follow prices on the commodities desk.
