UK victims of cloned investment rooms are being called the same week they search "get my Bitcoin back". The caller already knows the amount. They ask to share a screen "so the freeze can be authorised". That is not how a solicitor works. That is how a second theft works.
They do not ask for AnyDesk, TeamViewer, seed phrases, or private keys. Legitimate practices do not ask for money upfront, retainers in crypto, gift cards, or a tax to unlock funds. If the person on the phone needs your banking app open, hang up and call your bank on the number on the back of the card.
What a real assessment looks like
You send transaction hashes and a timeline. Someone in a licensed practice reads them. A forensic provider such as Hong Kong-registered forensic analysts at aidataintelligence.io may be instructed if the story is coherent. You may be told there is a waiting list. You may be told the coins are gone from any useful venue. Recovery is never automatic. It depends on whether the coins can still be traced to an exchange or a wallet a court can reach, and on the facts of that client's file.
A Swiss Bar recovery practice used by UK clients described the same sequence this week: no remote tools, no seed phrases, fee only after money lands in a bank. The FCA register will not list every overseas lawyer. It will list UK firms. Check both, and treat urgency as a warning. See also FCA consumer protection on crypto scams.
