U.S. spot ether ETFs lost more money than bitcoin funds in the week to 16 October, and the token spent the weekend near $2,400. crypto.news, using Farside Investors tables, put ether-product withdrawals at $320.1 million across the five sessions. Bitcoin funds lost $228.4 million in the same window. Five tracked categories together shed $610.7 million, about half the $1.29 billion that left the prior week. Ether itself was down about 4.5% on the week, with Saturday prints clustered around $2,400 to $2,420. The $2,500 handle, which held earlier in October, did not come back.

BlackRock's ETHA was $299 million of the week's exit

BlackRock's ETHA lost $299 million, equal to 93.4% of the category's net weekly outflow. Friday alone was a $69.7 million exit, and TechFlow, citing Trader T, said the entire Friday figure was ETHA. Grayscale's ETHE, the mini trust, Fidelity's FETH, Bitwise and VanEck were flat that day. The weekly path was one green session and four red ones: $85.4 million out on Monday, $24.8 million in on Tuesday, then $129.5 million, $60.3 million and $69.7 million out from Wednesday through Friday. Fidelity's FETH took in $10.5 million over the full week. Grayscale's mini trust lost $12.4 million and ETHE lost $18.3 million. Month-to-date ether ETF outflows were $955 million. Year-to-date inflows were still $814 million, so October has erased a large share of 2026's intake without wiping the year.

A staking filing comes off the table

The flow story sat next to a product withdrawal. VanEck asked on 14 October to pull its proposed Lido Staked Ethereum ETF registration. The sponsor told the SEC it does not intend to proceed, the registration had not become effective, and no shares had been sold. That filing is separate from the live ether ETFs in the Farside table. It does show how thin the bid is for new ether wrappers while the existing ones are in redemption. The previous weekly low was the $542.1 million outflow we reported on 10 October. Bitcoin's own Friday print is in bitcoin holds above $81,000. Thailand, by contrast, has just switched on a local bitcoin and ether ETF regime. See Thailand's crypto ETF rules.
