Ledger Probes CryptoBilis Drains as Estimates Top $86 Million

Ledger said on Friday it is investigating reports that users in Southeast Asia who bought devices from reseller CryptoBilis have lost funds. The company has not confirmed a dollar total or a cause. The Block and Decrypt reported that Ledger asked CryptoBilis to pause sales and shipments. CryptoBilis is listed as an official Ledger reseller in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Ledger's support account told anyone who bought from that reseller in the past 90 days not to set the device up if they have not already. Anyone who has set one up should consider moving assets to a new Ledger signer with a new seed phrase. The company said it would update customers as the investigation continues, and it pointed people to official support.

The $86 million figure is an investigator tally, not a Ledger audit

Researcher tanuki42 put suspected movements above $72 million. Researcher Specter later put the figure above $86 million across Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tron. Decrypt said Arkham data shared by Specter showed nearly $87 million at flagged addresses, including about $42 million in ether, $17.6 million in bitcoin, and $16.5 million in USDT. Those tallies do not by themselves prove every transfer ran through a CryptoBilis device. Anyone who asks for a seed phrase, or for a bitcoin invoice to "recover" the coins, is not Ledger. Report the loss through Ledger's official support page. In the UK, Report Fraud is a crime number, not a refund. See an earlier UK Ledger seed-phrase case and why a recovery invoice is a second fraud.
