Bitcoin spent Tuesday under $80,000 after the strongest three-week U.S. spot ETF inflow stretch of 2026. CoinGecko put the coin near $78,380, down about 1.3% on the day. Fortune's 9 a.m. Eastern snapshot was $78,346. Ether traded near $2,472. The wrappers still did the heavy lifting. SoSoValue put the week ending 5 September at $986.9 million of net Bitcoin ETF inflows, lifting the three-week total to $3.8 billion. Category assets sat at $101.3 billion after a brief $103.3 billion print. Cumulative net inflows since the January 2024 launch reached $55.6 billion. Year-to-date flows remain about $1 billion in the red. That gap is the early-2026 washout, not this tape. See how Monday 1 September opened with $236 million of redemptions.
Thursday 3 September was the heat. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $730.9 million, the largest session since 14 January. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust, ticker IBIT, absorbed about $454 million. ARK 21Shares ARKB added about $138 million. Fidelity's FBTC took about $74 million. Bitcoin wicked above $82,000 on that bid, then lost $80,000. Friday cooled to $174.6 million, with IBIT at $117.4 million and FBTC at $57.2 million. Monday 8 September flipped again: a $46.6 million net outflow, led by Grayscale's GBTC at $65.5 million of redemptions, while IBIT, Bitwise BITB, and Morgan Stanley's Bitcoin Trust stayed modestly green. Creations force the funds to buy spot. Redemptions force them to sell. One red Monday after a $3.8 billion run is a pause, not a regime change. Two more would say the wrappers are squaring into Friday's CPI.
Ether's 12-day streak snapped. Solana cooled 96%
Spot Ether ETFs still finished the week with about $218 million of net inflows, down 74% from $824 million the week before. The 12-session run that began in mid-August, worth about $1.62 billion, broke on 3 September with $48.08 million of outflows. BlackRock's ETHA led that reversal at $53.4 million. Thursday then printed $141.4 million, so the week stayed green. Solana products slowed from $154 million of weekly inflows to about $6.2 million, a 96% drop, with a $5.2 million Friday redemption. Combined crypto ETF inflows for the week were about $1.24 billion. Bitcoin took 79% of that. QCP marked resistance at $80,000 to $82,000 and support at $77,000 to $78,000, with a lower zone at $75,000 to $76,000. That map sits in front of Friday's August CPI print and the 15-16 September FOMC.
The $80,000 handle is a rate path, not a seasonal joke
September has a reputation as Bitcoin's weakest month. The ETF tape did not follow the calendar. It followed IBIT. CME FedWatch still prices a 25 basis point hike near 58% for 16 September. Brent tagged $99.46 on Tuesday after Houthi strikes on Saudi energy sites. Coupon-free assets do not like that mix. They also do not ignore $987 million of weekly creations. Treat Monday's $46.6 million outflow as the first vote after the jobs beat, not the last. If IBIT creates into CPI, $80,000 is still a reclaim. If Friday's inflation file is hot and the wrappers redeem, $77,000 is the level that matters. The Senate's CLARITY Act cloture vote is 15 September at 2:15 p.m. Eastern, one day before the Fed. That is a door. It is not a bid.
